Exponent Rules Get a quick feel for which exponent rules your students know and don't know. After teaching/reviewing this concept, I assign them to study the rules and expect a quick quiz that will assess them over the concepts during the first 5 minutes of the next class. This ensures your students actually take some time out of class to familiarize themselves with the rules.

Multiplying Polynomials Review Game

This lesson is a fun game for students to play! You can often find your students throwing paper away into the trash by throwing it like it's a basketball. This game uses that idea and has students doing math along with it! Students have thoroughly enjoyed playing this game!! Each group has a shooter and works on a problem individually while their group who sits behind them works on the same problem with them. They then compare answers and decide who the teacher will check. Depending on who

Monthly calendar where I have students track their daily entry and exit ticket percentages so that students can see their growth over time. This is also a place where they can see their percentages on weekly quizzes and reflect on their growth. Students keep this in their interactive binder. This is simply one month. Can be edited for other months and for your own data processes.

Multiple Representations of Exponential Functions Mix and Match Activity

This culminating activity has four exponential equations and one linear equation with their graphs, tables, and descriptions all mixed up on one page. Students are to cut them up and match the equation to its corresponding table, graph, and description. Included is a formative assessment to check for understanding in which students are given three values on a table and they are to create the graph, the equation, and write a story or description. This is a Word file, so you can make any change

I like to use this as a review game the day before our exponent rules quiz. Round 1: Product and Power Properties Round 2: Quotient Properties Round 3: Negative Exponents While some formatting and fonts might differ due to your machine, all headings and title pages are fully editable. The algebraic expressions are picture files. This file is also avai

It is completely editable so it may be rewritten for other exponent rules. Educators can use the template for a practice activity, as a formative assessment or a summative assessment. The IB MYP command terms are to match expectations for an MYP 3 class but it can be used by other grades as well. I would love to hear from you if you have any comments and

This often includes putting 5 definitions (or more often-pictures) on the board, and having students write down the vocabulary term that best describes each one. I also keep a word wall as a word bank for these quizzes. This template allows students to record their responses for a whole week on one paper. I recommend trading and grading every day, then colle

Students can fill in the blank square or you can provide the already filled in square (though I recommend filling in the blank better because you can step through the methods with the students). Or you can use the completion of this graphic organizer as a grade and use the filled in square as your rubric/key. Ea

Given a blank equilateral triangle, students will recreate the Sierpinski's triangle fractal, to three iterations. They will be asked to figure out what fraction of the entire triangle each iteration takes up. From there, they will be asked to generate an infinite geometric series to describe this pattern, and then work out how much of the triangle will be filled when the series converges.
