This is a fun project I used around state testing time to help students review shapes and angles (and social studies-bonus!). Students worked in pairs to create a map of a town using specific terms that I picked out. They also had to write a key to show that they understood where they used parallel lines, certain shapes, etc. It was fun and creative- my favorite! :)

This is a card sorting activity in which students match terms, diagrams and definitions of lines, rays, parallel and intersecting lines, angles and triangle vocabulary. This activity has also been used successfully as an assessment tool with students in grades 5 through 8, either individually or as a cooperative group project. The resulting poster also makes a good bulletin board display. Delia Benn.
