When teaching anything, students have a tendency to shine in other ways than that of the traditional pen and paper test. This project was used in place of a traditional pen and paper test. My students created a bird house for their chapter project that covered parallel and perpendicular lines and planes. They had to design their houses from scratch, making sure that the bird they selected could actually live in it. They came up with blue prints, calculated surface area, and even wrote an ess

I have used this project to help students learn about parallel lines and angle relationships formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal. You can use it as an internet activity with dragging icons and lines onto the page on page #5 or a paper copy activity on page 4 and page 6. It's really fun and interactive for all students. Thank you! I added 2 examples of the paper copy of the project.

Students will create a town map made of different geometric figures. They will demonstrate their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines, acute and obtuse angles, geometric shapes as well as many other geometric concepts through this creative and fun project. This project can be adapted to higher level geometry courses and high school classes. You can add parameters to the geometric shaped buildings (ex. must label the dimensions of the building given a certain area or perimeter).

St. Patrick's Day Ireland Coding project learning about Ogham stones

Ireland is more than just the land of four leaf clovers! This is the perfect activity for older kids who are ready for something different than the normal St. Patrick's Day activities. This exercise is also a great screen-free way to introduce your students to the world of coding! Ogham Stones are large stones that people carved a secret language in on the island of Ireland. This lesson will teach your students how to create their own secret codes with the Ogham alphabet. The alphabet is simple

City Design Project, Angle Pairs

This city design project is a way to assess student’s understanding of angle pairs formed by intersecting lines and transversals through parallel lines. Students can showcase creativity while placing buildings in the designated locations. There are enough streets (lines) that students city designs will vary and you will be able to identify any copying/cheating. Directions and rubric are included. No prep. Just assign the google slides. Slides can be edited to meet the needs of your students. Thi

Have your students construct their own city using parallel lines and transversal angles. The students will decide the landmarks in their city and then construct the city based on the stipulations set. The angles used are: alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, same side interior angles, same side exterior angles, vertical angles, supplementary angles, and corresponding angles.

Mini-Golf Math Geometry Project: Mastering Angle Measurement & Protractors

Put your students' geometry and measurement skills to the test with this hands-on Mini-Golf Course Design Challenge! This project-based learning (PBL) activity transforms students into course architects who must use protractors, straightedges, and rulers to draft a functional, mathematically precise 9-hole mini-golf course on graph paper. Instead of solving isolated, abstract textbook problems, students must manipulate line structures and calculate paths of motion, reinforcing geometric standar

Geometry City Map Project: Urban Planning Performance Task (Lines, Angles, & Sha

Transform your students into Lead Urban Planners! In this Geometry City Design Project, students apply their knowledge of geometric figures to create a functional, "up-to-code" city map. This resource moves geometry from abstract textbook diagrams to the drawing board, requiring students to synthesize multiple standards in a creative, real-world context. Whether they are laying out "Parallel Parkway" or building a "Right Triangle Police Station," students must be precise, organized, and mathema
