Statistical Inquiry Project (introductory slides & rubric)
This project walks students through the entire process of doing their own statistical investigation during a 6th-grade statistics unit. Each student creates a question, gathers data, analyzes what they find, and explains their conclusions. As they learn new ideas in class, they put them to use right away in their own project. I created this as a way for students to practice the topics they were learning, while also giving them a chance to explore something that genuinely interests them.

In Queensland there are multiple different approaches used by schools to establish grading rubrics in relation to the Australian Curriculum (V9.0). Have you considered the implications for your students going into Years 11 and 12. Often teachers state to me that the Australian Curriculum does not prepare students for Years 11 and 12. Is it the curriculum, or how it is being used, that does not prepare students?

Construct a Survey Lesson/Project Plan
