I struggled to be able to teach my first year students about adjectives, simply because the cards were so difficult for them to read at this level. I created work to replace the eleven adjectives drawers we had, for lower level readers. This has helped increase engagement with grammar work and empower lower level readers to be able to understand "big concepts," like what an adjective (and noun and articles) are, at their reading level.
