I used this as a Bell Ringer for students to be able to pick out the roots from a list of evaluated coordinates then create a factored form of the polynomial. Then the students multiplied the factors to find the standard form which is always good practice.

Scaffold some Law of Cosines questions for students! Directions: First, complete each formula. Then, get them checked by your teacher. Finally, solve each question. Round side lengths to the nearest hundredth and angle measures to the nearest angle. There are 5 questions: 3 solve for a side, 2 solve for an angle measure Page 1: A copy you can edit to match your students' skill level or to provide more work space. Print this page to have blank spaces on the worksheet instead of boxes. Page 2:

Graphs of Rational Functions

This is a graphic organizer to be used as notes for defining and describing graphs of rational functions. An example is given for finding vertical asymptotes and two methods for finding horizontal asymptotes. The first is to find the inverse function then see where it is undefined. The second is to divide the numerator and denominator by the highest power of x then find the value when x approaches infinity. It does not go into detail on actually graphing the functions and does not include holes.

This is a one-page matching worksheet for students to be able to recognize and evaluate logarithms that are expanded and condensed after they have learned log properties. After they match the expanded logarithm to the condensed version, they evaluate it. The solutions are on the second page. I use this as an end-of-class activity to do a check for understanding.

These notes correspond with my Derivatives of Inverse Functions PowerPoint. Students may follow along as you go through the power point and make their own notes. This hopefully saves time and allows students to focus more on the concept rather than trying to get everything written down.

Help your students become better mathematicians by asking them to write. Writing about the variety of topics that relate to polynomials will help them synthesize the content and hone their ability to communicate clearly. I assigned this task to 11th grade pre-calculus students as the summative assessment for the polynomials unit. I have included the graphic organizer and a model paper that I wrote. The rubric I used was the New Tech Network's Knowledge and Thinking Rubric.

Step-by-step worksheet explaining how to find key values of a trigonometric function from a table of values, beginning with midline, then amplitude, then the period/B value. The first page is an example in step-by-step form (designed for absent students/self-guided learning) and then the second page are two examples, one using sine and one using cosine. Pages 3-4 are answer key.

Vector Treasure Hunt! Drawing Vectors Activity for Physics or Precalculus!

Ahoy, matey! Your students will have a blast practicing drawing vectors on this Vector Treasure Hunt! Students must follow written directions to draw vectors onto a treasure map. If they draw their vectors correctly, the students will find the buried treasure! Students will need to use a protractor and a ruler to draw their vectors. When they are finished, they will draw a "shortcut" on the map. This will be the resultant vector and show the displacement of the ship. Students will also ge

I wrote this worksheet for my IB/Precalculus students so they could see how to apply the chain rule to determine the derivative of a composition of functions. The questions are worded in triples: once to find the derivative of the first function, once for the derivative for the second function, and then for the composition of functions. I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions. The file includes spiral review pro

This is a guided worksheet for an introduction to graphing linear function. It is appropriate for algebra 1, some algebra 2 or pre-algebra class. Teachers can use it as a handout to guide students to graphing linear function. Students would first explore graphing linear equation through completing a table of values and plotting coordinates on the Cartesian plane. Then they are introduced to the slope-intercept form. The focus of the lesson is on the slope-intercept form. The first 3 pages ar

I use this worksheet with my IB/ Precalculus students to help them analyze quadratic functions. This worksheet "holds their hands" through the process of using the derivative of a quadratic function in standard form to determine its vertex; once they have its vertex, they rewrite it in vertex form. They use the discriminant to analyze its roots, and they move on to consider the domain and range of specific parabolas. I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure
