I wrestled with this monster for several years, and what I came up with is 15 "goals" that each singer works toward regardless of the concert cycle, complexity of the music, level of musicianship in the ensemble, theory concept, or sight-reading difficult

Playing Quiz Rubric

Many instrumental music teachers give playing quizzes to assess student progress. The challenge is using a consistent and fair grading policy for these quizzes. I created this rubric for my middle school band classes. I display copies posted around the classroom for student reference at any time, and I project the rubric during quiz times. The student are able to grasp how the grade is calculated as well as how to improve the grade for a future quiz.
