I attended Eckerd College and earned my BA in Communications. Later, I earned my teaching degree through a graduate program at Texas State University. I completed my student teaching in Austin, Texas, where I continued to work as a paraprofessional in the same classroom for the remainder of the year. I moved to central Florida and obtained a job in 6th grade ancient history in a Title 1 School, where I taught for 4 years. I now teach 7th grade Language Arts.

Text Features Map Project
After taking notes on text features, I have students do a text feature scavenger hunt with local maps. These are easy to find in a hotel, tourist information booth, or local amusement parks. Students will create their own map based off a book they are currently reading (all of my students are part of a literature circle so they ALWAYS have a book to pull from). Teaching style
I like movement, action, and noise! I allow my students organized discussion throughout my teaching with lots of movement, partnering up with different personalities and hands-on learning. I allow music to help coordinate different elements of the lesson and engage in cheesy cheers, which the kids come to love! We are always expressing ourselves, allowing multiple opportunities for our true personalities to show. This contributes to a safe learning environment, where all personalities are respected and expected to shine!

I love to travel, explore, and embark on adventures! I'm a runner and love the outdoors and hope my active enthusiasm is contagious! My love for my area of expertise is evident in my travel destinations, and my students love indulging in those experiences with me! I hope to inspire my students to learn about this great earth we live on and indulge its rich history.
