This 3-5 day project gives students the opportunity to research the culture of the 1920s through key historical figures, sharing their work on the final day during a "Speakeasy" celebration, complete with costumes and period food, drink, and music. Students' understanding of their classmates' research is tested as they deduce the "secret identities" of their classmates during the Speakeasy celebration. This is a great culminating project after reading The Great Gatsby, but could also be fun i

Encourage your students to fully support their thesis argument. If any evidence is missing, their table will not stand up! I've used this to teach thesis statements in historical writing as well as English class. The 3D manipulative and visual helps the concept stick in students' brains!

Child's A.M./P.M. Routine Chart

This is a picture chart I created to help my son keep track of his morning and evening routines. He picks out a weekly reward every Sunday evening (playdate, trip to the playground, family movie night etc.). We set a goal for __ checks each morning/evening, which earns him a check/sticker for that day. If he gets stickers for every day, he earns his chosen reward that week! I keep a copy in a page protector so we can write on it with a Vis a Vis pen, erase, and reuse each week. But you could

Each has a dinosaur picture on the left side and a fill-in-the-blank thank you note on the right - fold them in half and you have a thank you card!

This is a handy little list of cleaning tasks my son can help with around the house. He is still at the age where he loves to help, and I love having less cleaning to do! I included pictures of specific tools (duster, vacuum) that we have so they would be easily recognizable to him. This is an editable Word document so you can customize it to your needs/your child's abilities.

This chart lists norms for academic class discussions that help students ensure that the conversation is respectful, on-topic, and based on textual or other evidence. It's a great tool for helping students with CCSS Speaking and Listening Standards. I created this chart for grades 9-10, but it could easily be used for any middle or high school classes. Note: this will be most useful for discussions based on texts in subjects in the humanities.
