A visual introduction to the history of printmaking, and a brief outline of the different types of printmaking to help students understand the different effects they can achieve. I use this for my Year 7 students, to introduce them to the basics of printmaking before starting a foam board printing unit looking at landscapes focused on the works of Hundertwasser. This presentation also introduces students to the types of lines and shapes that students can use when creating their artworks.
This presentation explores the work of artist M.C Escher. Students begin by discussing the concept of left-brain & right-brain people (myth) and then discuss the link between maths and art. Terms such as symmetry and tesselation are defined and explored in relation to the artmaking practise on Escher. This presentation is an introduction to a sculpture unit exploring coral and the underwater world. Students can create their sculptures from clay, air drying clay, paper mache or plasticine. This presentation introduces students to two artists who explore coral reefs in their own artmaking, Courtney Mattison and Vera Moller. This presentation introduces students to the work of Hundertwasser, both his paintings and his buildings/architecture. This presentation has an accompanying worksheet on my profile that includes a closed passage, review of complementary colours and drawing activity looking at Hundertwassers artworks. In this presentation, students are also asked to collect images from a selection of artists to create an inspiration board for their artmaking. I use this as an artist to inspire my year 7 student
This presentation provides an introduction to Art & illusion, featuring famous graphic optical illusions, and highlighting to work of the Canadian artist Rob Gonsalves. I use this as a starting point for a lino printmaking unit, but it would also make a good introduction prior to an illusion drawing task, or as a mini-unit to add some fun to your course.
