Supplemental Lesson Plan for Reading A to Z Level E, "All Kinds of Factories"

Created by

This lesson plan coincides with the Reading A to Z Level E book, "All Kinds of Factories". ALthough Reading A to Z offers lesson ideas for their books, I foud that some of the ideas did not fit for my students or with the standards we were working with, so I wrote my own. This lesson includes pre-made vocabulary cards that can be cut-out. The objective of this lesson is to connect with prior knowledge.

A Smart Start

This is an informal fill-in-the-blank worksheet for new students to get to know their classroom at the beginning of the year, and to come to terms with what they already know and what they still want to know about their class, teacher, and new grade level. It's a great way for students to show teachers a little bit about themselves while still showing teachers their creative side with a journal activity.

About the store

Experience

I worked as a K-12 tutor for six years and helped strengthen students' reading and math skills. I also helped prepare 9th-12th graders for the CHSEE. I was a college-level writing tutor for three years. I have substitute taught K-6 for two years and have taught kindergarten, first, and fourth grade.

Teaching style

I believe in every student and have a no-excuses policy. However, I vary my lessons and the structure of my class so that each student has the opportunity to succeed based on his/her strengths, abilities, and learning styles. I hold my students to high expectations, but I do so with a caring and uplifting attitude. I believe that a class culture is one of the most important features of the school because it enhances the learning experiene for each child.

My own education history

I majored in Liberal Studies for my BA and graduated with highest honors for my M.Ed. and multiple subjects credential.
