In this ready-made activity, students interpret pictures, maps, and text describing a room in a WG apartment that is available. The other two inhabitants of the WG are looking for someone to move in to the now vacant room. The text is authentic, native German.
I personally use this activity with my AP students as precursor to actually using the WG-Gesucht website. It gets students familiar again with all those words they learned earlier in German, familiar with the format of WG-Gesucht without
Have students take this questionnaire about how they might want to live their lives, then try to pare things down a bit to save some money, and see what life was like for a typical factory worker or laborer during the Industrial Revolution, making connections to what that might be like in today's terms.
One of my favorite quotes from author Robert Louis Stevenson. Add it to your classroom. Download the file and print it (11x17in) at your local printing shop, Office Depot, or Kinko's. The photo on the poster is from a morning in Tuscany, Italy.

This one page, two-sided handout is a useful cheat sheet for students of German to help them find the right words, find better ways of phrasing things, and avoid making common mistakes - all without asking them to use an online dictionary (where, let's be honest, they can get things quite wrong). I allow my students to use this every time they write an essay or extended paragraph for me.
