Students must put Shakespeare quotes into plain English.
This is meant as an introduction to Shakespeare. Most kids are a little wary... but after this assignment, they may feel better! This assignment shows them that they can understand Shakespeare... and, in fact, they may agree with a lot of the quotes!
I was very intentional about the quotes that I chose here. You may still want your students to work in partners so they can have conversations about what the quotes mean.
Basically, students must provide either:
- a quote to back up an inference. OR
- make an inference based on a quote from the book.
It's a simple activity, but very effective!
