I began my teaching career in 2013 and has since taught English Language Arts across grades 6–12. I have served in a variety of roles including a summer school and after-school director, RTI/TST Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, and ACT Prep Instructor. I've held multiple leadership roles, including Lead Teacher, Department Chair, and Leadership Team Member, and has mentored new educators along the way. I have been an ELA Curriculum Specialist for the last 6 years. In addition to my K–12 work, I am also an adjunct professor of English, teaching Composition I and II at the collegiate level.

About the store

Experience

I began my teaching career in 2013 and has since taught English Language Arts across grades 6–12. I have served in a variety of roles including a summer school and after-school director, RTI/TST Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, and ACT Prep Instructor. I've held multiple leadership roles, including Lead Teacher, Department Chair, and Leadership Team Member, and has mentored new educators along the way. I have been an ELA Curriculum Specialist for the last 6 years. In addition to my K–12 work, I am also an adjunct professor of English, teaching Composition I and II at the collegiate level.

Teaching style

As an educator and instructional coach, I bring an innovative, student-centered approach to every resource I design. My classroom philosophy centers on creating engaging, rigorous content that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Whether working with middle school learners or college students, I strive to make learning purposeful, relevant, and energizing for both students and teachers.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Katie was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2018 and recognized as Mississippi Spelling Bee Coordinator of the Year in 2024 for her leadership and dedication to student enrichment. These awards reflect her passion for literacy, engagement, and excellence in education.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master’s in Secondary English Education, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. I am currently working on my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. This academic foundation, combined with over a decade of classroom and coaching experience, fuels my passion for creating purposeful, teacher-friendly resources.
