Our resources are born directly out of the daily realities of working as Speech Language Pathologists in a school environment dedicated to serving students with diverse and complex communication needs, particularly those who rely on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). The challenge we faced in our classrooms was familiar: while we knew our students needed consistent exposure to core vocabulary to build communication competence, finding engaging, no-fuss lessons was nearly impossible. Most materials available online required endless printing, cutting, and prep, and they simply weren't designed to support the intense, varying needs of our learners. As a result, skills taught in therapy often failed to carry over into the classroom, and our staff struggled to feel competent and confident using the students’ AAC systems. We knew there had to be a better way to achieve true carryover. The CoreCrew Solution Over time, we developed a system that truly worked. By blending a careful balance of direct instruction, highly interactive activities, engaging songs, and meaningful games, we created lessons that captured our students' attention for 20-30 minutes with the support of classroom staff. The results were transformative: Students Attended and Learned: They became more competent and confident in using their AAC devices, using their words meaningfully during structured lessons. Staff Confidence Soared: Our classroom and support staff quickly became more skilled and comfortable modeling AAC, leading to richer communication opportunities all day long.
