Students will identify and label major aircraft parts using both top and side-view diagrams of an airplane. They will then reinforce their understanding by completing a vocabulary matching activity that connects important aircraft structures and control surfaces to their functions in flight, including pitch, roll, and yaw control.

This instant design challenge was originally created for STEM classrooms but can be easily adapted for any subject. Designed to fit within a 45-55 minute class period, it includes Google Slides with clear teacher instructions and engaging student-facing slides, making it perfect for engineering students and an introduction to the engineering design process.
