This is a great way to introduce your students to all things CHARACTERS! Exploring characters on the inside, outside, and their emotions and feelings. This is set up as a three day lesson and could be stretched out even longer, depending on your length of lesson time. All three lessons are structured in a similar format with an introduction/review of the 3 main concepts (character traits, physical traits and emotions) and then an application of identifying these concepts to a video or text. This is a listing for an 8 day lesson on 4 TYPES OF CONFLICT. (Character vs Character, Character vs Nature, Character vs Society & Character vs Self) This can be used to introduce the topic, have students take notes and answer questions to demonstrate their understanding. There is then an 1 day review task and a 10 question multiple choice, true/false assessment. Also included is a student anchor chart to take notes.

This mini unit will allow your students to learn the 5 main text structures by learning their definitions, reading samples and even crafting their own text structure paragraphs! Each text structure is broken down into 2 days with an introduction day, making this about 11 days long. The 5 main text structures covered are: Description, Chronological, Compare & Contrast, Problem & Solution and Cause & Effect.
