This behavior tracking document is digital so it can easily be modified to suit your specific needs. The column on the left side is for typing (or copy and pasting) your students' names. You can easily place an "x" in a box to document any behaviors you need throughout the day. I use a new sheet each day and then file them for future reference. This Smart Notebook lesson introduces many of the common prefixes and suffixes that students will use in third grade. Definitions are given for each, followed by examples. Then students are allowed to build new words using the prefixes and suffixes the lesson has them practice.

Students can use the graphic organizer in the lesson to make relevant connections between earlier and later events of the story. Students will also be able to take simple sentences and transform them into compound sentences.

This Smart Notebook lesson focuses on distinguishing fact from opinion in a persuasive piece of writing. There is vocabulary practice, spelling of irregular plurals practice, and fact and opinion practice. This lesson could be used in conjunction with student whiteboards so you can get a quick check for understanding from all students.

It is based on the story called "Whose Habitat Is It?" in the Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures text for third grade. The lesson reviews vocabulary in an interactive way as well as providing for practice using a web type of graphic organizer which Daniel Oden created.

Students can use the graphic organizer in the lesson to determine supporting details that will help them determine the main idea of certain passages within the story. Students will also be able to review and identify the subject and predicate of a sentence in the grammar portion of this lesson.
