Discovery Zone

Your budding science will explore designing and creating their own marshmallow catapult. Student teams will compete with other student teams to shoot the marshmallow the farthest. To crank up the competition, they will be charged for supplies and it will be computed into their score. The smallest cost per unit of measurement wins.

A fun twist on a childhood game. Get students to practice fractions with a simple card game. On your turn you can ask a friend for a specific card or "Go Hunt" in the forest card stack. On your turn, take a set in your hand that equals one and place it down for a point. Watch for more decimal and fractions games on Discovery Zone.

Students in 6th grade sometimes do not send home the correct information on how they are doing in my class. Even with grades coming home, parents will ask questions that give me the impression that they need more information to help their child succeed. It is great to give the student a goal to work on. I staple incomplete work to the paper if I feel necessary or "No Name" papers. Extra credit and candy are great motivators to get the paper back. Feel free to edit it to make it work for you
