Students select to decorate the t-shirt printed on the paper or create a slogan on their "bumper sticker", then write about how that item symbolizes them. I also have students write the definition of a symbol on their assignment. Teaching style

My teaching style is very hands-on, project based learning. Typically students will begin with a warm-up (15 minutes), be involved with a literature lesson (15 minutes), then finally engage in their respective project of choice for the remainder of the class time. Even if you have state mandated skills to teach, such as I do in Texas, you will find that these projects listed will typically incorporate an average of 20 required skills.
