About the store
I have taught all levels of English/Language Arts to grades 9-11 in a public school setting (special ed, on-level, honors, and Advanced Placement), and am the District Instructional Coach for E/LA (K-12). I work with teachers to increase student learning by ensuring best practices by modeling instructional strategies, and sharing original curriculum. I have facilitated numerous professional learning sessions at the Region IV ESC Reading/Writing Conference, Region IV Alternative Certification classes, and at the district and school levels. Sessions include: "Writing a Delectable Expository Essay", "The Presents of Poetry", "Investigating Inferencing", "Playing Around with Plays", "A W.O.R.L.D of Learning Taking Place", "The First Days of School", as well as numerous others based on the needs of staff.

Elements of Short Stories Assessment
This 15-question multiple-choice assessment is to be used in conjunction with the Elements of Short Stories Powerpoint (available for purchase on site). Please feel free to view the preview, and change the protagonist/antagonist answers according to the literature your class is reading. (We had a holiday theme just for fun!)The assessment will ensure understanding of such terms as protagonist, setting, internal conflicts, etc.

First Day of School Getting to Know You Activity
The "Getting to Know You" First Day(s) of School Activity allows you to get to know your students in a fun way. Students select to decorate the t-shirt printed on the paper or create a slogan on their "bumper sticker", then write about how that item symbolizes them. I also have students write the definition of a symbol on their assignment. Possessives, Apostrophes (& the Simpsons)
This ten item worksheet is a fun way to teach possessives with a Simpsons twist. Part A exercises have students writing the possessive, then Part B has students adding the appropriate possessive noun in the blank. Although I did this with the Simpsons, you can feel free to change it to YOUR students' favorite tv show!

Commerical Group Project
This commerical project can be used for any subject area, but especially English/Language Arts, History, and Science. Implementation ideas are included for the various subject areas. In this project, students will create a "fantastically new product" and then create a commercial for it. Included in the commercial is a script, print ad, then students will finally act it out.

Character Assignments For Use With Any Story
These three character assessments are a great way to assess a student's knowledge over almost any topic or character in story in a creative way! Students can select to complete the "How to Be...Poem", "Want Ad", or "Trading Cards" and a rubric is included so they have an understanding of how they will be graded! Unit Discovery Lesson for Use With Almost Any Subject
This assignment is a great way for students to work together to get introduced to just about any unit for any subject. Students will be engaged in researching, creating a visual to sum up their findings, and writing descriptive words to relate to their findings. This assignment works especially great using large butcher paper and markers, although students can engage in it by themselves as homework.

Teaching style
My teaching style is very hands-on, project based learning. Typically students will begin with a warm-up (15 minutes), be involved with a literature lesson (15 minutes), then finally engage in their respective project of choice for the remainder of the class time. Even if you have state mandated skills to teach, such as I do in Texas, you will find that these projects listed will typically incorporate an average of 20 required skills.
