Experience

I have been a teacher since 2006, starting out my career teaching a range of subjects at the high school level (drama, English, French, Social Studies, Learning Assistance, and Communications). I have since transitioned to Elementary and have taught K-5 (primarily 4th and 5th grade).

Teaching style

A lot of my teaching is done through the integration of Fine Arts, using drama, dance, art, and music as avenues to teach in -Engagement through Project-Based Learning -the Inquiry Process -Digging in deep through dynamic discussion -Brain Breaks and Community Building -Differentiated Instruction to maximize potential -Developing a Growth Mindset -Learning through Engagement

My own education history

I have a Master's in Educational Practice, a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts Education (teaching curriculum through drama, dance, visual arts, and music), a B.Ed. in Curriculum Development and a B.A. in English Literature and Theatre Arts. I have taken dozens of workshops over the past 10 years including -Phonemic Awareness -Literacy Support -Emotion Regulation for Children -Reader's Theatre -Guided Reading & Running Records -The Daily 5 and Cafe Book -Positive Behaviour Support -Intermediate Guided Reading I am a part of a district literacy team for Intermediate Educators.

Additional biographical information

I have taught in British Columbia, Canada for the past 10 years and have recently transitioned to San Clemente, CA, USA and obtained my California Teacher's permit. My products are designed to be used in both Canada and the USA (and beyond!) unless otherwise specified. I'm proud to be a teacher and love what I do!
