This will be my 12th year teaching for the School District of Philadelphia (North Philly area). I am teaching Kindergarten! I have found so many useful resources on here so I thought I'd start adding some of my own that I have created!
Before Kindergarten begins, we hold individual interviews with the students and their parents. This resource is a way to interact with and interview the child a bit during the course of sharing a lot of information with the parents. Favorite things include favorite cookie, candy, movie, color, shape, and book. I added the question about holidays at the bottom because I live in a very diverse area, and it's important for me to know what students do or do not celebrate! Directions for use of t
This 2nd grade lesson bundle (with assessment for “Change Makers”) goes along with Ready Gen 2016 book “Change Makers” and the Text Collection “City Green”. It does not follow the lessons in the teacher's guide, but takes some aspects from many of the lessons. The lesson plans are written following the CLI lesson template for shared reading and interactive read alouds to follow a Balanced Literacy approach. I have created what I call a “Shared Reading Guided Practice” activity for two of the

This lesson plan and graphic organizers can be used with "Snowshoe Hare's Winter Home" for Lessons 8, 9, and 10. Use this to guide grown ups through working with their child on the Saxon Decodable Reader. I suggest using a week or two to practice in class too before sending this home for the kids to complete with their grown ups. You can edit the Bitmojis if you'd like, and also add your own choice board activities in the boxes on page 2.

Nothing fancy! Just an abbreviated lesson plan for Saxon Phonics lessons 13-16 with a simple power point to show pictures of objects that begin with the letter you are working on, and the letter you worked on previously. This document provides teacher preparation directions (only 3 quick steps), student instructions with pictures, and a recording sheet. You must already have the Saxon decodable readers and access to information on how to code in order to use this product.
This "Name Game" covers letters, sounds, syllables, and then also has teacher notes within the slide that give other tips for using this as a whole class. Tip: Use this as a class first so that the kids can get familiar with it, and then assign to each child on google classroom.

This document includes 5 catchy and familiar tunes and teacher created lyrics to teach children sight words. I have given an example sight word and how to sing it with each tune. You can use the same 5 songs to teach sight words all year! However many letters the sight word has, corresponds to the tune you will use. I have also included links to hear the tune for each song.
