Story Elements Tic-Tac-Toe includes 110 questions and writing assignments that can be used with any novel. The questions and assignments may be used in any creative way the teacher chooses. Using the lists alone provides a comprehensive way to introduce and teach all the elements of a story. I have also incorporated the 110 questions into 20 tic-tac-toe formats. In each of the grids, there are questions dealing with the story elements: setting, characters, plot, author, theme, mood, and misce

There are 10 short excepts followed by either 4 or 5 questions. Students must draw conclusions from the material they read. Five of the paragraphs are on the second-grade level, and five are on the third-grade level. An answer key is provided.

I have redone these activities to make them more attractive to your students. The packet contains 21 reading passages where students read a selection and then answer 4 questions dealing with the Main Idea. The selections range from a 2.16 reading level to 5.67. There is an answer key included.

There is something for everyone in this resource. There are worksheets covering multiple grade levels and can be used as a way to tier your assignment. This eleven page packet can be used with any novel. It consists of an explanation of Literature Circles and ten worksheets which describe the various responsibilities within the circle.
