This lab is a fully-integrated NGSS activity incorporating the primary concept of Matter and Energy with these two practices-- Planning and Carrying Out Investigation and Analyzing and Interpreting Data. In the first part, students will record observations and mix three chemicals, trying to determine if they are witnessing a physical or a chemical change. In the second part, students will design experiment to determine which chemicals are responsible for the increase in temperature. This lab
In this religious education lesson students examine representations of heaven, hell, and angels and describe saints and cultural traditions surrounding death. NGSS asks students to learn about cell organelle structure and function. Students have a difficult time visualizing the parts of the cell because they are so small. This lab uses de-shelled eggs to represent cells on a scale that all can see and understand. The membrane of an egg is semipermeable just like that of a standard plant or animal cell. By putting the eggs in different solutions, students can observe whether water is drawn into or out of the "cell" through osmosis. Eggs that have
Fractions, Decimals, and Percents are a common area of difficulty. Give your students a fun reference that they can use while they build confidence. Students will cut out the directions for converting between fractions, decimals, and percents and then paste them on the map where they belong. A key is included.
This map is designed to be used for Common Core Rational Numbers in 7th grade and as a bridge into Percent Problems. It would also be appropriate to use for advanced 6th grade student
