About the store
As a volunteer, I run the drama club at our PreK-8 local parish school (5 years, 3 plays/year). I have been a Girl Scout troop leader (Daisies through Juniors, 5 years). I am a classroom substitute teacher for the parish school, all grades/subjects. I also sub for the CCD program. I homeschooled my four children from 2012-2014. All proceeds from my work are donated to the drama and religious ed programs at our school.
For five years (2005-2010) I was the coordinator and chief designer of the NEH-funded "Bartholomew's World" project in Latin language and medieval philosophy education, aimed at students in grades 6-12.

Teaching style
I tend to use Socratic method when I teach in front of a class (ask rhetorical questions, bring the kids into dialogue with the subject, help them arrive to the answers on their own).
I design lessons with activity and hands-on learning. I use a variety of learning methods (not just read/write but also speak, do, act, move, listen, respond, reflect). I build many of my lessons with allegory, simile, or metaphor - using common experiences to generate understanding. I only use memorization when it's necessary in order to create a foundation for future learning.

Additional biographical information
In my professional life, I own a small clothing company - I am the chief creative officer. I also work part-time for the Richard Rufus of Cornwall Project as the web editor. I have four children and live outside Washington, DC. I'm originally from Tucson, Arizona.
