Diversity Rainbow

Before doing this activity consider reading a book like Black is a Rainbow Color by Angela Joy or one that talks about skin color. This is a coloring page to reflect the diversity in your classroom and around the world. Instead of using the traditional colors in a rainbow, students will use People Colored Crayons or markers. This will allow for representation in the classroom.

A Turkey for Thanksgiving (Vegan/Vegetarian)

This worksheet should accompany the book A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting. This worksheet includes an area for the student to work on story elements, choose vegetarian/vegan options, write about their choices and then draw a picture. This can also be used digitally where they can insert images from Google instead of drawing. I hope you enjoy this simple worksheet that will allow for representation and inclusion.

Experience

My name is Kelly. I am a Certified Teacher from NJ. I earned both a B.A. in Psychology and Elementary/Special Education and a Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. I have been teaching individuals from 4 - adult in both private, public and home settings since 2010. I recently changed careers and am now teaching STEM to PK - 5th grade students. Teaching style

I am a fun, warm and caring teacher. My favorite thing is individualizing instruction for my students. I infuse a lot of different mindfulness activities into the classroom. I also believe it is essential to teach about social justice, climate change, LGBTQ rights, and make sure to represent BIPOC in my curriculum. Representation Matters.

My own education history

At 18 I was in school in NYC studying Fashion Merchandising. From there I owned several businesses and went back to school at 27 to pursue a career in Education/Special Education/Psychology. At 34 I completed my studies and earned a Master's in Applied Behavior Analysis. I am the first to graduate college in my family. I am currently back in school and working towards my STEM certification K - 12. I am definitely a lifelong learner!

Additional biographical information

I love to tap dance and I am known on occasion to tap with my students in the classroom. Coming Soon: Dance PowerPoint, SEL Lessons, STEM.
