First Steps

This printable small book will help students represent numbers 11 to 20 using a ten-frame. You will have to make 9 copies of the inside page for numbers 11 to 19. The end page is number 20. Students will represent each number by stamping dots inside the ten frame. For example, for the number 11, the student will stamp ten dots inside the ten frame, then one more dot outside the ten frame. Next, they record what they see. Small book. Students practice writing the numbers 11-20 and represent each number inside a ten frame. Designed to increase the child awareness of the relationship of numbers.

Small booklet / reader. Students compose numbers to 10 and complete the addition equation. Booklet is designed so all you have to do is copy and make one cut in the middle. No need to collate pages!

Students learn addition by using domino pieces - Students count dots on each half of the domino, record the numbers and find the sum. Page 9 and 10 allow students to make up their own equations using real domino pieces. Page 11 allows the teacher to make up addition problems using numbers only. This material is Copyright protected. This is a set of 11 cards to help students represent numbers in terms of base 10. The cards begin with counting objects and increase in level of difficulty. By the end, students should understand that 18 is 10 + 8. You may wish to copy pages on card stock and place inside a plastic sheet protector.
