Chindogu stands for strange tool. It was a term coined by Kenji Kawakami, a Japanese journalist who worked for the monthly managize mail order life. Japan is famous worldwide for its quirky inventions, but Kawakami did not intend for chindogus to be sold or reproduced. He manufactured a number of 'ununseless' inventions that attempt to solve day to day problems or simple inconveniences.
