Help give preschoolers, kindergarteners, and lower elementary students a head start on understanding history with this easy, hands-on activity. Print and cut out the images of the three phases of French history. Give your student time to look at the pictures and ask them what seems older, more recent, etc. Ask them what they notice and what clues they see (i.e. taller buildings, electrical lights, etc.) Then help them place them in the correct chronological order and glue them into place.

Use these cards with four distinct geographic regions to ask preschoolers where crops would grow best. Ask them what crops need to grow and then ask them which of these cards would meet those requirements. A great way to get kids to start thinking about physical geography in a very concrete way. Extend the learning with having them place the cards on a large map of the United States.
