I was that kid. Math never clicked for me growing up, not because I wasn't capable, but because I was missing pieces I didn't even know I was missing. It was a struggle I carried for years. When I started teaching, something unexpected happened. The concepts finally opened up. Explaining math to students forced me to understand it at a deeper level than I ever had as a student.
