Experience

I have over 15 years teaching experience and have enjoyed every moment of inspiration and achievement. Have a look at the different resources available, try the free stuff and get some ideas for yourself. I have tested all the resources with classes that I teach and refined them before publishing so that common misconceptions are addressed in the material or explained in the teacher notes. Every step is explained as simply as possible without wasting time on repetition.

Teaching style

I believe students learn best when they are engaged in my lessons and having fun. To do this effectively I ensure that all abilities are able to complete the main tasks with varying degrees of help and provide additional challenges for those who complete the work quickly. I also like to make lessons relevant to students by using popular culture combined with traditional approaches that they enjoy. This often makes me revisit lesson plans especially when a student suggests an improvement.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I think my favorite moment in teaching was when I took a group of students to a huge game programming competition last year and they won many of the awards available. This showed me how powerfully learning extends beyond the classroom and they all had a great sense of achievement.

My own education history

I studied Computer Science at University and have been teaching for over 15 years. During that time I have completed additional computing studies and gained a variety of industry certificates: Adobe Associate (Flash, Photoshop and Dreamweaver) Microsoft Office Expert Microsoft Office Specialist (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access)

Additional biographical information

Outside teaching I enjoy playing keyboards in a band and am usually out and about a couple of times a month playing at bars, corporate events and weddings... and completely different from thinking about lesson plans!
