This one-pager contains everything one needs to know about polar coordinates ... how to plot, how to find equivalent polar coordinates, and how to convert to/from rectangular coordinates. This is a great resource page for teacher or students. If enlarged, it would make a great poster for the classroom! Stay tuned ... more polar-related material will arrive soon to my store!
As an alternative to flash-cards, student will create a flip chart to help them study and memorize their basic trig identities (reciprocal, quotient, Pythagorean, even/odd, co-function). Their flip chart easily and safely fits in their notebook for easy access. This document contains everything you need ... student sheets, direction, a photo of the final product ... and even a bonus worksheet. The "Basic Trig Identities Starter WS" has them search their identities for fill-in-the blank questions
This review activity includes 8 questions for independent group review. Groups work one one questions at a time (at their own pace) ans swap their card for a new one if their answer is correct. Topics include: excluded value(s) of xsimplifying rational expressionsadding/subtracting rational expressionsmultiplying/dividing rational expressionscomplex fractionsrational equationsextraneous solution(s)rational inequalitiesI use this in a 40-50 minute class as a great independent review. I get them s
The worksheet introduces them to the vocabulary that is used to classify polynomials. It is a perfect self-guided/independent-learning activity that is perfect as an after-assessment assignment, homework assignment, or sub-day assignment. Answer key is included. This file also includes Ticket-in-the-Door Cards for a quick formative assessment as student arrive to class.
Students work independently or in groups to unscramble three challenging identities. Each individual step is on a different strip of paper so that students can manually manipulate the order of the steps. Once the steps are in the correct order, I have them either copy them into their notebook or paste them on a sheet of construction paper. Then, they are to add the verbal explanation for each step of the identity proof. This is a great hands-on activity to allow students to look at trig identity
This is a 12-question Solving Trig Equations worksheet. It can be used as a matching worksheet or with Versatiles (not necessary). The types of equations include basic, factoring, Pythagorean substitutions, and multiple-angle equations. I use is as a review before a quiz or test. I love that my students know right away if they have made a mistake because they don't see their answer among the choices.
I use this on day 1 of Basic Trig Identities. After student have been introduced to the basic trig identities (reciprocal, quotient, Pythagorean, even/odd, co-function), I have them use their identities sheet to find answers to complete the worksheet. The worksheet has 4 parts of varying difficulty. The first two part are basic find-and-copy type questions. The third part has students starting to manipulate and rearrange the basic identities. The fourth part is a slight challenge to really get
