About the store
I've been teaching high school and middle school computer science for eight years, and spent the majority of those years training other teachers on how to engage more diverse groups of students into technology. This work has taken me all over the globe, where I have learned even more strategies for recruiting and retaining girls and other underrepresented groups in STEM.
I have had the privilege of being recognized by the National Center for Women in Information Technology, the Golden Apple Foundation, and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching for these efforts, and I am so happy to share my award-winning resources with you!

Remote Learning Breakout Rooms Accountability Slides
Send students off to do any activity, work independently, or help each other and monitor their engagement with this Google Slides presentation. Get them talking and cooperating even during remote learning! Especially useful for schools where students each have their own unique Gmail account--you can see who added what in real time! Teaching style

Why Hedgehog Learning?
My first "crack" at recruiting more students to computer science came in the form of a hedgehog, Hazel, which I acquired from Craig's List.
She's grumpy and nocturnal, but she's been a beloved classroom pet ever since, and the symbol of our school's ever-growing computer science family.
Like loving a prickly old hedgehog, learning computer science takes a mix of patience, tenacity, and maybe just a little dash of crazy!
