Many children with autism and related disabilities struggle with elopement. This is an issue that concerns many parents and is a dangerous . At Camp Puzzle Peace, Inc. we are dedicated to providing programming and creating materials that help families to support their children with challenging behaviors. Using Social stories/scripts helps people to be proactive in addressing skills related to safety and social skills.

The rules for water safety have to be explicitly taught to many children with autism and related disabilities. Stories that support the rules are a research based approach to helping children to generalize the rules. At Camp Puzzle Peace, Inc. we work to find fun and creative ways to teach safety and independence skills for kids. Stories that teach the rules are a great way to engage children while teaching important life lessons.

Many time trying new activities in the community can be challenging for kids with high anxiety and/or on the autism spectrum. Providing steps and visual supports helps kids to be more successful. This is a visual that we put together at Camp Puzzle Peace, Inc. to support children going kayaking. Enjoy and happy paddling!
