Math Morning Work (Saxon Compatible!)

Are you looking for a way to spice up your morning work? Are you looking for an interactive way to engage early finishers? Are you looking for a way to incorporate “game like” play while still reviewing concepts? Look No Further! I wanted to do all of the above! I wanted to find a way to engage my early finishers without some of the procedural work of math games. I printed one of these front and back. I put one in a sheet protector for each of my students. I hope your kiddos have a blast designing and writing!

Academic Brag Tags

If you have done any research for classroom management, you have probably read about brag tags. Brag tags are an awesome way to promote positive reinforcement in the classroom. You can even use them instead of a treasure box (save some $$$)! Some teachers treat these like dog tags. I treat them more like a key chain. Students get a binder ring at the beginning of the year. As they demonstrate different behaviors, I recognize them by presenting them with a new tag. I tell my students that they'r

Teaching style

I hope instill a growth mindset by giving my students challenging material that lends itself to critical and independent thinking. My style includes a lot of modeling and self guided practice. I try to incorporate play and use of manipulatives into most lessons to develop a strong understanding of concepts taught.

Teacher of the year in 2016

My own education history

I have a BA in Elementary Education and Mild/Moderate Special Education

Additional biographical information

I have SUCH a love for learning. I am absolutely addicted to pod casts. While I am teaching, I will constantly share with my students fun new information learned from what I have most recently heard. I hope that my love is infectious. I want my students to see my passion and get excited too. I love chocolate. I always have a stash of cocoa roasted almonds in my classroom. There is constantly music playing in my classroom. Spotify playlists are the best. We listen to strings versions of popular songs. It lets us have fun but not get too distracted.
