Welcome to Learn Play Read—a space where literacy and creativity come together. Created by a children’s librarian with experience in both public and school libraries, these resources are built on a deep understanding of how young children learn through books, play, and hands-on exploration. Now as a homeschooling parent, I design materials that are practical, flexible, and ready to use in real learning environments—whether that’s a classroom, homeschool, or library setting. Each resource is carefully developed to: -support early literacy skills -introduce rich, meaningful content (like art history) -encourage curiosity and creative expression My goal is to make learning both intentional and joyful for young children.

Experience

Teaching style

My teaching approach blends intentional instruction with creative exploration, grounded in years of experience as a children’s librarian. Each resource is designed to: -introduce rich content (like art history) in an accessible way -connect learning to high-quality children’s literature -support foundational skills through hands-on activities I focus on creating structured, easy-to-follow materials that still allow for flexibility and creativity—so teachers and parents can adapt them to their learners.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s degree in Library Science with a specialization in Youth Services, along with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing. I have also completed all required coursework and passed the state certification exam toward earning a K–12 Teaching License with a Library Media endorsement (student teaching in progress). My background combines literacy, child development, and curriculum design, which informs every resource I create.

Additional biographical information

I’ve spent years helping children discover books they love—first as a librarian, and now as a parent guiding my own child’s learning at home. Creating resources for Learn Play Read allows me to bring together everything I value most: meaningful stories, creative expression, and developmentally appropriate learning for young children. When I’m not creating resources, I’m reading aloud, testing activities in our homeschool, and continually searching for the best children’s books to share with other families and educators.
