I used this assessment to determine student knowledge of singular possessive nouns. It contains 20 questions. I threw in a couple on abbreviations, because I wanted to review what I taught the past week. You can edit that part out, though, if you don't want to use that.
This is a ppt I created including the vocabulary words from the Rough-Face girl by Rafe Martin. It includes the words: desperate, faith, miserable, proud, ashamed, village, wigwam, and scarred. I also included pictures that go along with the words.
I used the vocabulary words: elongate, tension, cling, stretch, elastic, as shrink. I also added words such as: evaporation, precipitation, condensation, and water vapor as well. I defined the words and included pictures. One even has a link to a video to watch.
I hope this helps you as you piece together things for the Louisiana Guidebook: Thirsty Planet Unit.
**Please follow me as I will be adding more stuff to my store on the Thirsty Planet Unit. After that, I will be working on the Famous
I used only a short quiz with 6 questions on it for this story in the Cinderella Guidebook Unit. It was the last story that I did and I focused more on the culminating writing task this week than an actual test/formal assessment.
I taught "The Raft" and focused on the standard RL 2.2 & then I spent 3 days on "River Song" and focused on the standard RL 2.4. This is the assessment that I made. It includes 2 cold reads, part A/part B questions, and application of the 6 vocabulary words from the raft/river song.
I am teaching from the Thirsty Planet Unit. This is the first lesson: A Drop of Water. I taught on this story for 2 weeks. This is Day 1 - 4. I am in the process of making week 2 (Day 5-8). *Please follow my page! Thanks!!
Day 1: I focused on standard RI 2.1 (ask and answer questions) to introduce the new unit to the class.
Day 2: I focused on RI 2.4 Unfamiliar/Unknown Words
Day 3: Author's Purpose (RI 2.6)
Day 4: Unfamiliar/Unknown Words (RI 2.4)

We had the text this week on "One Well: The Story of Water on Earth" from the guidebook. This story did not really flow like a regular story would so I focused on standard RI 2.2 for this lesson which is about main idea and details. I figured I could have the students do a jigsaw activity and each work on finding the main topic or idea and at least 3 details on a page from "One Well" rather than trying to read the whole book every day. I found that this worked well. This is the powerpoint I used
I have created a ppt presentation based off of the LDOE cinderella guidebook unit. This story is what I taught on Monday-Thursday. This can be used by anyone who teaches this story.
This is an assessment on adjectives that compare (using -er and -est endings). I also have a little review on regular adjectives on this test as well. I'm not sure why the lines that separate each question looks like that, but that can easily be fixed/deleted.
I created this assessment when I taught plural possessive nouns. I also added a few review on there. They had to know the difference between singular and plural possessive nouns.
This assessment was made with 20 questions and includes the vocabulary words for this story. I focused on the standards RL 2.7 (illustrations in a text) and RL 2.1 (ask and answer questions) and made the cold reads based on those standards. I also included comprehension questions on the story as well.
I have created a ppt on the vocabulary words from Domitila by: Jewell Reinhart Coburn.
The words included on this presentation are: shawl, musty, banquet, roused, contrite, marvelous, arrogant, exquisitely, smugly, encouraging, cunning, and widower. I also added pictures to the ppt to go along with the words.
This is an assessment based off of the story of "The Rough-Face Girl" by Rafe Martin. I have included questions on vocabulary, a cold-read with questions, and questions on the story.
I have created a powerpoint on Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters based off of the LDOE website's Cinderella Guidebook unit. This could be used by anyone that teaches this story Mon.-Thursday, though.

I focused on the standard RL 2.4 on poetry/songs with "River Song". I taught the standard and focused on rhyming and alliteration. I will cover more of this standard later, but I wanted to introduce them to it and this lesson seemed the perfect time to do it!
I have created a ppt containing the vocabulary words from the story Cinderella by Marcia Brown. The words are: disposition, goodness, scolded, twitter, paraded, scarcely, conducted, courtesies, snub, spendidly, overtake, and haste. There are 12 words in total. Each slide contains the definition as well as a picture that goes along with it.
I used this with the Thirsty Planet story by Beth Geiger. The story contained many different text features so I felt like teaching text features all week would be beneficial. I used this Monday-Thursday to teach this concept.
