I am a school Academic Coach. As part of my regular duties I am asked to model lessons in classrooms. The school reading coach and I decided to make a reflection form that we sometimes ask teachers to fill out while we are modeling a lesson. This document contains the reflection sheet we present to teachers when we are modeling for them. This will give us a discussion tool in our post conference.

Many people who teach math use the CUBES strategy. There are several versions of this strategy, but this was created for use at my school as the 5th grade math teachers decided on these particular words. :) This resource contains a picture sample of a large poster, the pieces to make the poster shown in the picture, an 8 x 11 sheet and a set of 3 bookmarks on one page.

I think teaching the Six Traits for writing is awesome! However, I struggled finding a set of classroom signs/posters that I liked. So, I created my own set of posters. I also made a "mini-set" of the same posters so I could put them in the hands of students. The mini-set would be a great addition to a writing journal, notebook, or binder. They could even be added to individual student writing desks. We printed the posters for all the classrooms at our school. These posters list the quest

I always feel it is important to have relevant information at my fingertips. With so many of our students now having IEPs, I sought to find a way to include the most important information all on one form to have in a lesson plan book. I looked at a variety of forms and then created this one which combined several different aspects all in one place. This form can be used to keep important information for individual students at your fingertips. Enjoy!

I used to present many different workshops and trainings. One of the activities that I loved to do was to have teachers create a nameplate that we would have displayed during the workshop. So, many years ago I created a "table tent" that had directions prewritten on it so that I could distribute them to participants when they walked in. Several people in my county started using the template as well. So, I thought I would share this for those that wish to use it. This table tent would also b

Teaching Ten Frames to students is a great idea. Teaching Ten Frames to parents is a little more difficult. :) This 2-page document can be printed or copied front to back so that it is on one piece of paper. (I would recommend using cardstock or thick paper.) Then send it home with parents or use it at a parent workshop! We have distributed this to many parents at my school after doing a few games with it and showing them what they could use around their house for the "markers" on the frame

Common Editing Marks

This document has a table showing the basic editing marks that all elementary students should be shown and learn to use. The document has two copies on one page of the same chart. Allowing each student to have their own copy in their writing journals, writing folders/notebooks, or on their writing offices would be an excellent use of these tables. Teachers should model these marks as often as possible in front of the students during model writing and when marking student writings. Enjoy!

Foldables are GREAT... teaching Summarizing is hard. This foldable form has directions written on it so that it can be placed in an independent center for students and can be used with any type of text. This is also a great foldable to use for whole class activities. (I have even used it with staff development workshops full of teachers.) Enjoy!

Recently our 1st and 2nd grade teachers decided that they would begin to have their students "own" their learning by keeping track of their own personal data. We decided that each student would begin by tracking ONE piece of data they were most interested in improving. This is aligned to the goal that each student sets and reviews during their student led conferences with their parents. The PDF here includes copies of the forms we will use at Harbour View Elementary in Summerfield, Florida, f

Frayer Models are awesome and can be used in a variety of ways. One of the first things you should do is to teach your students how to "Fold a Frayer" so that you do not waste copies. The first page of this document shows instructions on how to "fold a Frayer" using a blank piece of paper. The next three pages show a variety of ways you could use the Frayer format for various purposes in your room. The last two pages of the document are an "Informational Frayer" and a "Narrative Frayer" that

This PDF contains a set of four "spinners" that focus on comprehension questions to be answered after reading any fiction book. Students would use a paperclip and pencil as the spinning piece. These would be GREAT if used in a center. I would suggest putting the direction sheet (page 1) and the four spinners in a binder or ring set for student use. The pages can also be laminated and just left out in the library or response to text center. In addition to the direction sheet and four colored
