About the store

Experience

I’ve been lucky enough to teach 5th grade and middle school students since 2011 here in Houston, Texas. I teach Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies — subjects I absolutely love! I’m all about creating and tweaking lessons that not only align with TEKS but also get kids thinking critically, ready for assessments, and feel confident with some fun differentiation thrown in. Helping students grow and succeed is what keeps me inspired every day!

Teaching style

I’m a big fan of the workshop model — “I do, We do, You do” — because it breaks learning down into manageable, meaningful steps. Most of my lessons follow this flow to help students build confidence and independence. I also love weaving in high-level academic vocabulary and designing assignments that challenge students to stretch their thinking and grow. Creating a supportive space where kids can take ownership of their learning is my goal every day!

My own education history

I hold a Texas teaching certification with endorsements in Generalist (grades 4-8), ESL, and Gifted & Talented. My formal education and ongoing professional development fuel my passion for creating engaging, standards-aligned lessons that meet the diverse needs of upper elementary and middle school students.

Additional biographical information

I’m a proud Houston native, specifically from the Katy area, where I grew up inspired by my mom — a rock star junior high and high school teacher who taught me the power of education and passion. When I’m not in the classroom or creating resources, you’ll find me baking sourdough, practicing calligraphy, or spending quality time with my family. I deeply believe every student has incredible potential to grow not just academically, but as thoughtful, kind individuals. My store name, Make It Fifthy, reflects a bit of humor, and sass — just like 5th graders!
