About the store

Experience

Nine years primary teaching experience in three different school systems - public, Waldorf and IB, covering grades 3 to 8.

Teaching style

Hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Holistic, with a strong emphasis on social learning, outdoor education and principles of occupational therapy in the classroom.

Awards & shining teacher moments

"Best Teacher Ever" coffee cup, as voted and awarded by one third grade student. Oh...you've been given the same award too?

My own education history

I studied Law and Arts (Philosophy and Anthropology) at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. I was admitted to the bar, but ditched the lawyer's wig for the teacher's trencher when I realised how rewarding and enlivening working with kids could be. I then did a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary), and never looked back.

Additional biographical information

I am currently living and working in Istanbul, Turkey, teaching the IB curriculum at an international school. I teach a fourth grade class of kids that have come from all corners of the globe, which proves to be a rich source of lively discussion and learning.
