Students are presented with an a word problem and an answer to it. They they have to decide whether or not the answer is correct and prove their answer by showing work and explain in writing. These are great graphic organizers to get kids thinking about how to answer open response math questions.

When students have completed work, they can choose one of the following activities to research on the internet and create a poster to display the information. In my classroom, I laminated the list, cut it apart, and put the tasks on a key ring located near the computers for easy access. Students love to research these multi-subject topics!
Students can be accountable for their own work by keeping track of the activities they choose on each day to complete word work. These activities are for spelling-based word work.
