About the store
My name is Marianna Gillis, and I am a dedicated Music Teacher in Mesquite ISD working on my 5th year of teaching. I currently teach grades 3–5, though I have experience teaching students from kindergarten through fifth grade. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree and bring both my education and passion to creating meaningful musical experiences for my students. I am committed to fostering a classroom where students can explore, create, and develop the skills to become lifelong learners through the power of music. I strive to inspire curiosity, confidence, and creativity, helping every child discover their own musical voice and potential. With a focus on nurturing both musical and personal growth, I aim to equip my students with not just technical skills, but also an appreciation for collaboration, perseverance, and self-expression — lessons they can carry with them for a lifetime.

Teaching style

My teaching style is structured, student centered, and rooted from musical exploration. I believe balancing consistency with creativity - building routines that support musical growth while making room for joyful, active learning. I use a spiral approach to reinforce key skills across grade levels, with an emphasis on variety, cultural relevance, and musical expression.

My own education history

I earned my bachelor of Music at East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. Certified Music Teacher Ec-12 in the State of Texas Orff Schulwerk Training Levels I & II - I will be taking Level III in summer of 2026. ETIP Classroom Scholar

Additional biographical information

Music Teacher by day, mama and cat snuggler by night! I've taught elementary music k-5 going on my 5th year and love using orff strategies to keep my students moving, creating, and making joyful sounds. At home, I spend my time with my wonderful husband, Aaron, our son, Xavi, and our two cats Milo and Jerry. The joy I find with my family inspires me to design resources that make my music classroom just as warm and full of life!
