Time Delay and Repeat function. This is the last in my series of Motor Control Labs, the next step is PLC labs ( Programable Logic Control ) This lab is kind of a fantasy lab, simulating a Traffic Litght timing circuit. This lab was designed for the advanced student and most of mine never made it this far but provides an activity for that student. I alway suggested that each wire should be numbered or labeled within one inch of each connection point so you do not have to search for the label

The second lab introduces the student to several new components, Control Fuse, Transformer Secondary, Contactor Coils and Overload Contacts along with Thermal overload sensors. This lab series follows the Relay Control series intended to introduce students to how relays work and the concept of ladder diagrams in the electrical industrial area. This series is followed by my Motor Control Series and the two series go hand in hand. The picture I included shows this series on a 4x8 ft Plywood base

This Lab introduces the concept of normally clossed and normally open switches and the symbols . This lab series is intended to introduce students to how relays work and the concept of ladder diagrams in the electrical industrial area. This series is followed by my Motor Control Series and the two series go hand in hand. This is the area that most of my students actually get jobs that can become a career. I had my students build these on a piece of 1/2 inch plywood about 2 ft by 4 ft , a common

This lab adds a load ( a light ) to the corntrol relay. I used the same residential SPST switches that the students are already familiar with and inrotoduced them to a basic octal based plug in relay and socket This lab series is intended to introduce students to how relays work and the concept of ladder diagrams in the electrical industrial area. This advanced lab can be used as a real world assesment or for a Skills USA type of competition. It is intended to be used if you have access to actual walls made from 2x4 studs. This lab is advanced and can easily be used as a test. The page no longer tells the student how many conductors they will need between devices and they will need to draw it out or they will waste wire $$. The page no longer tells the student how many conductors they will need between devices and they will need to draw it out or they will waste wire $$. The big change for this lab is the addition of a GFCI, Ground Fault Circuit Interuptor, a light dimmer, and a photocell. Wire placement is left up to the student instead of the placement being guided. Instructor should look for wasted wire $$ when evaluating the outcome. The labs fol

Teaching style

Hands on teaching style with a strong emphasis on helping students to think outside the box. Each of my Labs are designed to slowly add skills based on the previous experience.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have always loved it when I would hear a student exclaim out loud ," Oh NOW I Get it !". Ha, I made them think on their own.

My own education history

Never enough and always continuous.
