Use the book, The Crayon Box that Talked, by Shane Derolf, to introduce the unit. This book is a wonderful way to teach cooperation in your class. The activities include basic color identification using words and pictures, discovering secondary colors, word search, middle vowel sounds, venn diagram and character trait graphic organizers. The activities have been differentiated for student's success.

Using Halloween fruit snacks by Betty Crocker, students can create a variety of activities. These activities include: addition and subtraction problems, graphing, stories, and use beginning and ending sounds. This packet is differentiated to meet the needs of each student. It is a fun activity across all subject areas that I have used for the last five years with my students. Always one they remember at the end of the year.
