Triangle's Angles Always Sum to 180

This lesson teaches students that in planar geometry, the sum of the measures of the interior angles of a triangle is always 180 degrees. The lesson starts with an exploratory exercise on GeoGebra, looking at the angle measures of a triangle. (This can easily be replicated on paper with pencil and protractor, if necessary). Then, the teacher will guide the students in a formal proof using parallel lines that is simplified to the middle school level. After that, students will be guided in an

I created this resource based off of the Massachusetts state standards for mathematics by grade level. This is a perfect tool to assess what your students know when coming into 5th grade. There are problems about identifying 2-dimensional figures and their lines of symmetry, telling time on an analog clock, knowing US currency, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two and three digit numbers by hand, adding fractions, finding the GCF and LCM of two numbers, identifying coordinate pai

Teaching style

I like to involve my students in the learning process as much as possible. I believe that students learn math by doing it. However, I also believe that students need modeling, scaffolding, and guidance throughout the learning process. I often guide my students by giving them specific questions. I also love to create analogies for my students and relate material to real life.
