I Have Who Has cards are a great way to practice content skills, mental math and listening skills. It is one of the few whole group activities where it is mandatory that you participate all the time or it won't work.
In the beginning, give students time to build their number on their place value mat. When someone calls out their base ten block pieces, they'll be ready. When they become more proficient with place value, most of them won't need the blocks.

This is a set of Hundreds Charts with the numbers from 1-1000 to be used with my "I'm Thinking of a Number" sets four through six. The three digit-numbers in these sets are large enough to make using base ten blocks cumbersome.
These cards can be used to play five different place value activities:
• Rummy
• Memory or Concentration Game
• Go Fish
• Mingle
• Matching
Students match numerals, base ten block representations and words for the numbers from 11 to 100.
The set contains number, picture and word cards for 11-100, directions for the activities and a student response sheet.
This lesson uses the children's literature book One Watermelon Seed in a hands-on activity reinforcing counting, patterns, skip counting and problem solving. It can be used as a whole class activity with students working in pairs to do the counting.
After introducing this lesson, any counting book can then be used in a math center or station with extension questions to create a new problem solving activity.
