This lesson teaches students the divisibility rules for 2, 5, 10, and 3. There is a Key Point for each divisibility rule, followed by an example, and then there are a set of 8 practice problems to practice the rules. Divisibility rules help students identify the factors of a number, which helps with division and prime factorization.

FDP Equivalence Matching & Warm Up

Created by

This worksheet includes a warm up for students to complete a table with equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents. It also contains a matching activity with 3 levels of FDP Matching. The pages can be print out and cut out by the teacher (or the students) and then each level should be matched separately. Level 1 is the easiest, so students should begin with level 1, then do level 2, and then level 3. Each fraction has an equivalent decimal and an equivalent percent, so each "set" should have 3

Experience

I spent a total of 7 years in the classroom. 5 of those years were teaching 6th grade Math at a charter school in Houston, Texas, and 2 of those years were spent teaching Math remediation (using ST Math) at the same charter school in Houston, Texas.

Teaching style

I usually introduce a new topic through "Key Points", followed by a few teacher models. I am very big into student practice time, because I truly believe students learn more from doing the Math than from watching me do the Math. My lessons usually have only a few teacher models, and many practice problems. I throw in activities such as matching activities or card sorts here and there, but these are not in every lesson.

Awards & shining teacher moments

In 2018 I received the Kinder Excellence in Teaching Award, which is an award given annually to a select few teachers in Houston Texas by the Kinder Family. It comes with a $20,000 cash reward and is nomination based, which means your school principal must nominate you for this award.
