This is my 4rd year teaching. I am a recent graduate from The University of Kentucky where I completed my undergraduate program and my masters as a Reading and Writing specialist.
Lesson 1:
Have students take a large piece of construction paper and fold it into nine pieces. Dicsuss the different geometry terms: point, line, line segment, ray, parallel lines, Intersecting Lines, Perpendicular Lines. Have students cut out either the words with the defination and place on each section then discuss that the illustration will look like with the students. Or for the more advanced students have then write their own definitions.

Steps for the Strategy
1. Pair Shoulder Partners. Determine who is A and who is B.
2. Present a problem for which there is only one correct answer.
3. Partner A solves the problem while Partner B coaches, checks the accuracy of the
answer and praises.
4. If the answer is incorrect, Partner B coaches Partner A to the correct answer.
5. Present a new one-answer-only problem.

Hands on teaching approach. I just went to a 5 day Kagan workshop and I am currently trying to implement many of those new strategies into my classroom!
