About the store
I've been teaching high school for over 25 years. My focus has been with students who struggle with math. One of my constant goals is to reduce the anxiety that so many students feel when working with math. I continually encourage students to keep working until a task is truly complete.

Quadratic Formula Template

A template to help students become familiar using the quadratic formula. I put the template in plastic sleeves so students can wipe it clean after each completed problem. NOTE!! This template is also available in a multi-page version (named "Quadratic Formula Template - 4 to a page") which is also free.

This is a supplement to my full-page Quadratic Formula Template (free). The template has been scaled down so students can fit more problems on a page. I use the full size template in plastic sleeves so they can be reused. However, this size is useful for sending home with students who don't finish in class.

Students will sort the 24 shapes as Regular vs. Irregular Polygons as well as Convex vs. Concave Polygons. In addition, there are some shapes that are Not Polygons. Activity could be modified to sort the shapes using only one pair of columns and have multiple shapes in each box.

Quadratic Formula - Memorizing Help

This series of slides are like "flash cards" to help students fill in the missing pieces of the quadratic formula. I usually introduce each slide by saying "Look, but don't say. Find what's missing." Then ask for a choral response from the class. By the end, the students are surprised by how much they remember.

About the store

Experience

I've been teaching high school for over 25 years. My focus has been with students who struggle with math. One of my constant goals is to reduce the anxiety that so many students feel when working with math. I continually encourage students to keep working until a task is truly complete.

Teaching style

I no longer follow a specific textbook. Instead, I teach using topical units. Most class periods focus on a particular topic rather than a book section. The topics increase in complexity and build upon one another toward a culminating unit assessment.

My own education history

B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Secondary Ed. (Wittenberg University) M.A. in Curriculum and Teaching (Michigan State University)
