About the store

Experience

My 18 years as a middle school literacy specialist have helped me grow and develop strategies to help students of all ages and reading levels. Presently I work with 5th and 6th grade students and I am a literacy facilitator, working and co-teaching with middle school ELA teachers. This involves delivering professional development as well. Teaching style

I believe in finding the right book for every child, the one that sparks their desire to read. I show students how reading is important to their lives outside of school and I encourage them to constantly reflect on themselves as readers. My behaviors and attitude about books and reading are crucial in serving as a model for their growth as literate individuals. Working with adults (teachers and grad students) helps me solidify my beliefs about teaching and open doors for them to explore and grow in their own teaching.
